Peter Cafe is an institution. If you are in Horta, you have to go there, even if you are not a sailor! Besidea the cafe/restaurant, there is accomodation, the famous shop and the museum.

We stopped at Peter's to have the requisite famous gin & tonic in the wonderful atmosphere that makes you feel a part of a place's history, but saw great food going by to other tables and so we had dinner too. The tuna was superb!

The scrimshaw museum was very interesting. Probably the best thing to do in Horta. We did not eat at Peter's so I can't comment on that.

Thursday night. Packed with sailing people. Waiters run ragged but coped magnificently. Mussels were simply the best I have ever eaten. Rest of the meal, inc beef main, was good but not at that standard. When we got up to leave our places were immediately...More
