If you wish to experience the contrast between modern domestic housing and that of most of our town dwelling predecessors then look no further than Baggaertshof. Small individual terraced homes smaller than a modern student's 'cot' for a family with many children. I last saw...More

Just a few steps from the down town one can feel a few hundred years ago, admiring beautiful picturesque buildings and escape from the city life. It is definitely a must in Kortrjk but very pleasurable one.

Peaceful walk through a historic part of Kortrijk. The real medieval feel to this city and a must visit whilst following the unofficial trail.

The old almshouses have been renovated and the gardens combined into a medicinal garden. One of the almshouses is open for the public to enter and have a peek around. As it is very small, you cannot do much more than peek around!. Few almshouses...More

Don't make a detour only for the Baggaertshof but if you visit Kortrijk, you have to vist also the Baggaertshof. Very small but a little place of quietness in the centre of the town. So you can feel that Kortrijk has really mediaval roots.

We would not have found this beautiful and thought inspiring place, without the help of the tourist trail map. Exquisite little apothecary garden, surrounded by tiny houses which offered accommodation to needy widows & children

Great history in a lovely setting. This is worth the trek if you have time. There are old restored buildings that really take you back to give a glimpse of life hundreds of years ago.

The Baggaertshof was built in 1638, as a place where poor women could live a virtuous and spiritual life. Somehow this place survived time, but is now completely surrounded by modern houses and shops. You can visit the place for free, but have a look...More

Find it. Sit down and relax. Love it. Old 17th century houses around a recent central botanic garden. One of the houses is free to visit and shows how people lived there back then.

Baggaertshof is sweet and small. This herbal garden has a small koi pond and a chapel twice its size and they ooze love. Image someone weeding this and feeding the kois. Beautiful, even in autumn.
