Nice square with shops to look at, but not a place one would spend a lot of time. It's a nice place to people watch and take a few photos.

I was there in the very mid summer during a university-consortium survey invitation at the International Relation Office of the Universiteit Gent. The city was comfortable to travel if you want to roam alone, possibly as far as private housing or apartments. Minimarkets are available...More

There are better places in Gent, this place is not very interesting. The day I visited, there was a flower market which was very good.

We usually make for this place when in Ghent, the Dulle Griet is worth a visit, if you can get in! It's best enjoyed when sunny and the tables and chairs are out, perfect for people watching.

This was our first view of Ghent's Historic Centre. A large Square in the heart of Ghent, surrounded by historic buildings and facades. There are many restaurants and bars in the Square with outside terraces but, otherwise, there is very little seating. The shopping street...More

No doubt the area comes alive at night when all the bars and cafes are in full swing but during the day unless there's a market (by the name it's probably Fridays!) it's just one vast empty area with an imposing statue in the middle...More
