Rue de Bouchers is a short but popular old pedestrian street situated between Rue Grétry & Rue de Fourche intersection (west) and Rue de la Montagne (east). It intersects Royal Gallery of Saint Huber and is around 150 metres northeast of Grand Place, making it convenient to visit while sightseeing in this popular area of the city centre.
Historically, this street dates back to the Middle Ages and was once known for the sausage-makers and butcher shops that could be found here. These days, it best known as a tourist hot spot, lined with bars and restaurants with endless tables filling in the cobblestone surfaced passageway. Some of the buildings display Baroque and Neo-Baroque features as well. Grab a seat, drink and a bite to eat if you like while on Rue de Bouchers. Otherwise, a brief look around will do and you can continue onward with other sightseeing you have planned in the area.

narrow street full of restaurants which look all the same. Their staff is pretty annoying and sometimes even rude if you walk past and are not keen to go in.
I can name two exceptions: aux armes de bruxelles and chez leon, otherwise dont't stop there, go somewhere else.

The rue des Bouchers is a narrow, historic little street just off the Grand Place. It is lined with restaurants. Apart from Aux Armes, most of these restaurants are decidedly second rate and unduly expensive. If you want to end up with overpriced paella you have been warned! The waiters frequently harass passers by into trying their restaurant, which rapidly becomes very annoying. In short, the street is picturesque and (just about) worth walking down - but don't be tempted by the harassing waiters. You can always take refuge in the Galeries Royales St-Hubert, then go to eat in one of the (much better) restaurants in Place Ste Catherine.

Don't be fooled by the nice welcome.
This establishment is an embarrassment to Brussels and Belgium.
A complete rip off.
We normally check reviews etc but we were tired and just wanted something wholesome and relatively authentic. We won't make the same mistake again.
The promising start of some excellent draft grimbergen soon gave we to the tourist trap.
8€ for 6 tiny pieces of garlic bread, 18€ for 1 cheese and 1 shrimp croquette. The main courses of traditional sausage and mash and beef cooked in dark beer were just about edible but the insult came when we realised that the tiny bowl of vegetables and the small side salad had added a further 13€ to our bill. We expressed our disappointment to the staff who simply shrugged their shoulders and turned away.
Just stay clear of this place and if the owners read and care about the reviews then take some pride in what you are serving and the city you represent.

The waiters are rude.
The reception was lousy.
We spent the evening waiting. Between arriving at the restaurant and leaving we spent 2 hours for 2 starters and 2 main courses.
The onion soup was tasteless.
The windward flight was not good. On the other hand, the beef tartare was not bad.
Dirty table.
It was a disaster. I will never come back again.
I strongly advise against it

Worth at any time of day or night. But specially at night as it crowded with tables and chairs at the street and all that good animation of drinks and happy people. Cars are not allow in this street. It is a must to visit in Brussels

Wish we had read these reviews before falling for this scam. My partner and I were starving after a long day of travel and were enticed/bullied into one of the many generic looking restaurants on this street. Ordered the seafood paella which is deceptively listed on the menu as "2pax". Actually it meant the picture was of a meal for 2 persons, but the price on the menu is only for one person. Designed to deceive and we completely fell for it.
It was a shame really because the meal was rather ok, just not at all worth the whopping bill we were stuck with at the end of it. The waiters are obviously very used to arguing with shocked tourists and it was clear we were not going to win. We payed our bill - feeling like complete idiots - and left.
Just keep walking.

It's worth going to Rue de Bouchers, because it's quite near to Grand Place, but ONLY to experience the atmosphere of the tourists tucking into their over-priced meals on the crowded tables outside each restaurant in this narrow street.
Beware that there are men standing outside each restaurant trying to grab the attention of each passer-by and trying to get that person to sit on the chair pushed in front of him or her. Therefore walk at a brisk pace, look around and avoid eye contact with these hasslers.
Then, having seen the sort of rip-off prices charged in this tourist trap for meals described as sub-standard by other reviewers, go elsewhere for restaurants that are not far away and offer much better food at lower prices.
For example, if you like Asian food, there are some over-priced Chinese restaurants in Rue de Bouchers and the adjoining streets, but within five minutes' walk, in the streets between the Bourse and Place Ste. Catherine, you can choose from many more Chinese restaurants that offer much better meals at far cheaper prices.

A lot of restaurants run by North African born/background immigrants. Pushers stroll in front the restaurants and they know all the tricks to lure you inside. I fell into the rap. I browsed the menu and was about to order a 21 € meat portion. The owner then flashed me a laminated paper with pictures of attracting dishes (but not the prices!). I then switched my order to a grilled meat plate. I got a "free" beer from a waiter. He also asked if I wanted to have garlic bread as a starter (not mentioning the price of course). I said yes. So in the end I had eaten four small pieces of garlic bread, a mediocre plate of grilled meat with fries and a free bier. The bill was 47€! Then I realised that I'd been caught with my pants down. I left a 50 € note and said goodbye. Then returned to my 4-star hotel just to notice that I could've eaten there a 3-course meal with wines for 49 €.
