The Hartebrugkerk ( church) is located in the middle of one of the biggest shopping streets of Leiden. It's the first official Catholic Church in the city of Leiden. A huge monument in a neoclassic style.

A big austere church from the Nineteenth Century, towers over the square and canal, simple decorations.

On a Saturday this white church on the corner of the Haarlemmerstraat is open for public. Time to light a candle. The rest of the church can be viewed behind the gate.

We discovered the building by night and it looked great from the outside. The following day, it was possible to visit it and we were somewhat disappointed by the interior.

I enjoyed my visit to this candle-lid 19th century catholic church and was pleased it was open.In my opion churches should not charge admission and this church did not do that.Nearby is a major retail area for Leiden.
