Part of Muzeeum, the nautical historic museum, are the defend works in the fortress beneath this statue from centuries before Napoleon occupied it. And Michiel de Ruiter is the greatest sailor and admiral, the Netherlands ever knew.

The name plaquette on this statue is in Dutch and in Italian! De Ruyter is the most famous Dutch captain and sailor. This statue in his place of birth Vlissingen was moved from a square in the city to this prominent place on the harbour...More

Michiel de Ruyter started his carier as rope bearer and claimed up to admiral of the Dutch fleed. He fought succesfuly many seabeatles on behave of the dutch gouvernement. His statue stands high looking over the river Schelde. In the local maratime museum nearby attributes...More

Michiel de Ruyter was born in Vlissingen, he was an admiral and the most famous sea hero in the dutch history. The location of the monument is at the exact place, at the end of the boulevard. The great man was there facing the sea.

great statue of Michiel de Ruyter watching over the North sea and a nice area to look over the belaamy park in vlissingen or looking over the westerschelde to Breskens

The view over the Westerschelde and old harbour is worthwile.Michiel de Ruyter is a famous 17th century dutch admiral who was born in Vlissingen.
