Van Heek a rich textilebaron made the creation of this park possible in 1872. It is a fine English landscape style park which makes you feel you are in nature, while in fact the groups of trees and waterbodies have been carefully planned. Many people perhaps do not notice their experience of nature is a bit of an illusion. Still a pleasant place to relax with old trees, an impressive six sculpture war memorial and a high fountain.

Despite a lot of park space is paved, bicycles are not allowed. The fences are unpleasant, not exactly inviting people to come in. Many locals were walking their dogs when I visited.

This is very excellent place to have a quick workout. There are trails to run on and some poles for workout.
And if the sun is out and you want a cool place to enjoy a nice barbecue, this is the place to be.

The park is a good size park for a stroll or just to relax. It has a small zoo and playgrounds for young kids. There are always beautiful flowers everywhere and is nicely landscaped which makes it tranquil. I personally like to go and feed the ducks that are along the pond.

The park on a normal day is nothing special, a few ponds and a small playground with a few animals. There are some festival or carnaval events in the park.

Close to city center, nice park for relaxing. You are not allowed to ride your bike in the park. Lots of trees, pathways, ponds where you can see ducks and swans, and a few rabbits around. The large pond has a fountain that sprays 23 meters high. There is the war memorial of Enschede, a sculpture group of Mari Andriessen, where every year on 4 May the ceremony of the National Commemoration of the Dead takes place. There is also a restaurant. Every year in the park an event is held where various artists exhibit their works and visitors do not pay an entrance fee.

This park is very near to the Enschede city centre. There are lots of trees, a lake, benches for taking rest, pathway for walking. It's a nice place for refreshment where you can spend some leisure time without any disruption.

It is a very beautiful park. Very close to the sinagoge, but you can't enter with your bike.
Afterwards you are able to go to the city center and enjoy the cafes and restaurantes there!
