After seeing pictures of windmills and on tv, it was so neat to finally see it in person. And have someone explain why they are used and how. One thing I found interesting is they charge to use the washroom. Would I recommend going? Yes.

It was cold and wet when we went to Zaanse Schans but it was well worth it. Staying at XO Park West Hotel, meant we were ideally located to visit this lovely village. The 19 tram took us to the rail Station at Sloterdijk. For...More

Nice location to come and see the biggest Icon of the Netherland. Nice stroll along the different windmill, with different option of seeing it all, walking, biking or cruising along in a small boat.

I was happy we took a morning, and took the 391 bus from Centraal Station to Zaanse Schans. It was very cool to see the windmills working, and actually go inside one of them.

We really enjoyed our visit to Zaanse Schans. It’s a charming community where people actually live. Besides the windmills there are a number of other things to see as well as the quaint shops. At the windmill we had an overview provided by the man...More

From Amsterdam Centraal to Zaandijk Zaanse Schans station, it's 17 minutes by train. Then it's a 15-minute walk from the train station to Zaanse Schans itself, with many signs along the way. Once you arrive, you can explore... More

There was an entrance fee for some of the windmills but there is one that you can go into for free as it’s a shop
