An important memorial, but just a big hunk of marble or granite with the words carved in. Glad they put this up.

Go from the railway station to the centre (Grote Markt) and take the left hand route. Soon, you will find the entrance of the "Hofje van Staats" on your left hand side. Open monday to saturday. A mister Staats wanted his inheritance to be spent...More

Situated near the central station of Haarlem in a noisy area. But as soon as you close the door which gives entry you are in an almost different world. Very quiet and going back in time. A worthwhile visit.
