This square is not so crowded and frenetic like the city center. Pubs and cafe's crowd the edges of the square. Plenty of choice there, also in the side streets like Binnen Bantammerstraat some nice places to be found. There's the Bredero monument on one...More

Good range of pubs and places to sit outside and people watch. It's quieter than Dam Square and not as much traffic. There are seats around the square and a nice looking old restaurant in the middle. A whole street of Asian restaurants just off...More

Sometimes there is a food market here. Otherwise it's a big square in the old city, lots of places to eat and drink, trams passing by.

Lots of big name brand stores (we saw 4 Samsonite stores in a few blocks) and tourists. No soul. No reason to visit.

Nieumarkt is within the enclave of Amsterdam central were you have various restaurants, pubs and the red light district. The taxi park and metro station ease the mobility of tourists. The closeness to the central station enables connectivity to the whole of Netherlands. There are...More

My wife and I were the Dam for her birthday and King's Day and on the Saturday took a wonder from the Canal district to Red Light District and came across a fantastic open air music and fair ground. It was a great atmosphere.

Nieuwmarkt is off the Red Light District and the Chinatown area. The De Waag building is the most prominent in this square.
