While walking in the Jewish Quarter and near Rembrandt house is the statue of Spinoza the Philosopher standing next to a canal. The side of the statue bears his name and his famous motto: “The purpose of the state is freedom”.

Beautiful statue to pay a homage to one of the greatest Philosophers of the History. Baruch Spinoza helped humankind to think in a deeper way about our own existence.

This statue of Dutch secular philosopher stands out as he is wrapped in his cloak with birds and flowers on it. There is also a plaque where you can learn more about him.
