it's important that a statue was made of a write brave enough to speak out against colonism, though you need to plan you trip to see this bust

While walking the sides and bridges of the canals in Amsterdam we stumbled apon the bust statue of Eduard Douwes-Dekker, better known Multatulias Multatuli (pen name). We found out that he was born on the Korsjespoortsteeg in Amsterdam. His birthplace is now home to Amsterdam’s...More

While enjoying the Sandeman's walking tour, we stopped by the statue of Eduard Douwes Dekker, popularly known as Multa tuli(his penname).Admired this writer as he very strongly criticised the Dutch colonial rule in the Dutch East Indies(modern Indonesia) in his novel Max Havelaar!!

We pass this statue during the free Walking tour. Near this statue there is a store very old and traditional that make cheeses.

This is a stroking statue that we came across the walking tour. It is a Dutch author I know little about. Edward Douwes Dekker who is better known under his pen name, Multatuli. He wrote satirical novels about Dutch colonialism.

Visited the Multatuli statue during the Spring and even though it is just an average bustle, there isn't much to say about it, other than it's located in a great spot in Amsterdam where people will "bump" into it just by walking around the canals....More

Multatuli or Eduard Douwes Dekker was a Dutch writer that's very famous with his book "Max Havelaar" This book is very important in the history of Indonesia. It's very good that he got a statue as remembrance of him. Multatuli's house is not far from...More

I think this larger than lifesize bust must be on one of the widest bridges on the Singel. It is a pity that apart from a name there is no explanatory plaque giving a few details about who he was.
