Really nice to visit, especially if you’re interested in beer. The entire process is explained, and even differences throughout the years are listed. The bar downstairs has a great arrangement of beers to try as well.

Interesting old brewery in a beautiful location. Although the museum is a little bit outdated it is still fun to have a look and grab a beer downstairs next to the water.

Great bar in Alkmaar, full of the locals as the choice of beer here is really good. The menu changes on a regular basis so always new things to try. On warmer months you can sit outside looking out on the canal or in the...More

This 'national beer museum De Boom' is informative in telling the story on how beer is made. The museum could use some tlc, modernization and a bit extra attention for non-Dutch guests. Don't get me wrong, it is worth going here. The 'average' score is...More

Nothing too flashy by any means but it gets the job done. It's obviously mostly Dutch but it does have some text in Dutch, English, and German. Friendly staff and worth a visit if you're a beer person. Only €4 /adult

I visited De Boom before. I actually go there on a regular basis. Over the years staff has not changed much. The crew is always friendly. Brews on draft could be tasted before ordering to prevent choosing the wrong beer. Just the place to go...More

Biermuseum tells the brewing story via the three-storey exhibition. By comparison, similar exhibition in Pilsner/Plzen is a bit more thorough and interactive. If you're a craft brewer you won't be blown away by the content. But there are some excellent archaeological artifacts, including the well-preserved...More

Will certainly tell you all you need to know in order to brew beer. Very informative! However, you can tell the museum was set up in the 80's by Heineken so bit outdated as well as biased. Would be good to get in a museum...More

Nice small museum about the history of the Dutch beer. Shown with posters, commercial material, beerbottles and glasses. The end of the tour brings you into the bar De Boom underneath the museum, which has a floating terrace on the canal..
