Nice bear sanctuary
Sep 2020
All-family oriented activity. Very well organized and instructive bear sanctuary. It is nice to see that those abused bears were rescued and put in this sanctuary to protect them. Great learning for everyone!

An average place. Go for the cause.

Arosa Barenland is situated midway to Weisshorn. It is a noble concept indeed. Bears (Napa) have been rescued and provided habitat that is relatively close to their needs. There are three bears.

The Good: It has installations that educate us and the kids specially about animal captivity. Lots of photo opportunities and great views. The platform allows visitors to watch the Bear run around in the enclosed area. But one might need to be patient for that. Kids love it when they sight a bear play and run around.

The Not so Good : It is too small and hyped. Kids would not spend more that half an hour here. Bears might stay hidden and you might not actually sight one. There is only a platform area even though it seems they are completing a long walking bridge above the habitat. Thi might be interesting. Bit given the entry price and even the Swiss price standards it seems overpriced. But then you console yourself that it is for a noble cause, so it is ok. I would really recommend you to get the Arosa card from that makes this experience really discounted for adults.

Bears in heaven

Great place to visit bears in what almost amounts to their natural habitat. The bears are all rescued from eastern European captivity.

First time to see the Bears
Mar 2020
In winter the Bears are usually hibernating but Napa is half polar bear so does go out this time of year you may get lucky. The visitors centre open on a Thursday afternoon in winter weather permitting.

Overrated
Aug 2019
Baerenland in Arosa is basically an enclosure on the mountain where you can view a couple of bears. It was okay, nothing you couldn't see in a well kept zoo where the animals have enough room and natural habitat to roam. I find the publicity around it totally overrated.

Bears in the Wild

Barenland allowed us an opportunity to view from a relatively close distance bears in their natural habitat.

The size and stature of the animals was impressive with the backdrop of the Swiss Alps.

A short but fun excursion when returning from the einhirn mountains.

A day on Bear Mountain!
Aug 2019
At the top of the first cable car journey up the Weisshorn mountain, you find a bear sanctuary. It's basic, a viewing area above a huge penned area, but there are bears! We saw three during our visit, running, bathing, playing & eating. The cost is a little high for the experience, but then you are paying to help save these beautiful creatures, so who cares!
