About
Two spacious 75-passenger cabins transport you in comfort from Wengen to Männlichen. It takes just under five minutes to climb the 947 metres to Männlichen – precious time you can invest in admiring one of the world's most scenic mountain vistas. With a little luck, you might even see the thundering waters of the Staubbach Falls. Since it first opened in 1954, the Wengen-Männlichen Aerial Cableway has carried locals and visitors from all over the world year in, year out. Since 2018, you can even ride on our open-air balcony in summer. Take your place on the rooftop balcony of our new cableway cabin and feel like Queen Elizabeth II greeting her subjects. You might even be tempted to try out your best royal wave, but we'll leave that up to you.

This is honestly not worth the money, save your money!!! Absolutely outrageous prices. 58 francs for a return trip for 1 adult is an extortionate amount of money considering there is nothing to do in Wengen in the summer. Not only does it only run 3 times an hour but they charge you extra to stand on the open top roof. To multiply this price for a family of 5 just makes it a completely absurd amount of money, which turned out to be a waste anyway. DONT BOTHER!!!!

Wanted to gain some height so we could walk down not up for a change!. This cable car is new and is very efficient. The cabin was reasonably empty in May (unlike skiing months). Ran every 30 minutes so easy to use.

Great to travel on and if you have kids or like the outdoors you can pay a little bit extra to ride outside ( very well enclosed ) which I think is worth it. views are great but you're in the Alps.... all views are great

For those who like walking, with incredible views, I recommend taking the Teleferico to Guslap to Warren and then go to Schiltorn, with a stop in Birg, which is sensational! Skyline is really cool, with the mountains in the background! Have a beer toasting the view!

We rode the cable car to go skiing with our whole family. There is so much ski terrain to explore! Some of us made a day of skiing down to Grindelwald, then taking the First gondola up and skiing there all afternoon, then taking the Eiger gondola back up and then skiing “home” to our rental chalet in Wengen. Other members of the family spent the day skiing nearby. Later we rented sledges and sledded down to Wengen from the top. It’s a winter wonderland with so much to do that is super fun.

I know there is a playground at the top and was surprised that my teenagers had fun with the facilities there. Food was decent quality at the self-serve restaurant. It was a great location to start the easy and popular hike to Kleine Scheidegg

We took the gondola up the mountain, and then walked to the viewing platform. It’s a leisurely 30 minute walk up to the platform, where we were rewarded with a beautiful view. Then we walked about an hour and a half to Kleine Scheidegg, where we caught the tram back to Wengen. That walk was also easy and leisurely. After three days of more challenging hikes, this was a nice activity to recuperate.

We went up to see the views from the top and take photos of Wengen from above. It was a wonderful ride. Very impressive when you see yourself going up so high so fast.
At the top you see amazing views of the snow covered mountains and the valley below.
We did not ride on the top crown, but saw a few people that did.
We got a 50% discount on the tickets since we had the Swiss Travel Pass.
Definitely worth it. We will do it again.

We enjoyed our trip on this cable car. The views on the way up are stunning and the view from the top is even better. We hiked the Royal Walk at the top and it was very nice. There is also a playground at the top and a restaurant. It was included with our Jungfrau pass, which was awesome.

Does anyone know how far it is, or the time it takes (walking slowly) from Wengen station through the village to the bottom of the Mannlichenbahn cable car please? Also, is it a flat walk?
Written 25 July 2019
A very slow walk shouldn't take 15 minutes. It is flat and paved. No problem for anyone. Rough estimate about 400 metres.
Written 26 July 2019
can you take a train or bus from Mannlichen to Wengen after 5 pm when the cablecar stops operating?

Hi - The summer sleds you rode down the mountain looks fun. We'd like to try that when we go next month. Do you recall what town you rented them in? Wengen? How did you get them up the mountain before riding them down? Thanks! - Rachel

We want to visit the Swiss alps from Venice during late August. What is the weather like and the temperatures please...
Written 12 February 2019
Hi .. we were there in the last week of August and on the first morning 24 Aug woke to fresh snow! A very cold clear day (needed gloves and beanie) however the next 5 days was very warm with only T-shirts and shorts. Then rain for 3 days. So you need layers, and rain gear too! Hope this helps. Remember you’re in the alps and need everything.
