We all had a great time sampling cocoa beans and 6 different types of chocolate. We then got to make our own chocolate bars, which turned out great. Carolina gave us some great decorating tips!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 June 2024

- AlexandraP7 contributionsa definite must see:)We went to the chocolate workshop with my family and it was awesome - you learn so much, you have a lot of fun and you create your own chocolate. Also you eat as much as you want during the workshop and the chocolate there is amazing:)) A definite must see! And Chris, who lead the workshop, was so nice and friendly. I really recommend the experience, it is an amazing way to taste Switzerland:)Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 August 2024

This is a cute find in Interlaken, where you can get your chocolate fill. The cafe and dining were good, but I also did the workshop and I couldn't speak as highly for it.
If you are doing this with a family, then I can definitely recommend it. I had read about the Funky Chocolate Club workshop in pretty much every online website about Interlaken, but I would not call it a "must-see" at all.
The workshop was cute, you get an apron and a red chef hat, try different chocolates from white to milk to dark (all variations) and then temper your own chocolate and make 3 bars with your chocolate. I wouldn't say I learned anything new (cacao beans make chocolate, they are from tropical areas, etc., etc.) and you don't have to pay money to try light to dark chocolate.
I did this workshop solo, and I never have any problems doing activities solo, but Interlaken was full of American university students studying abroad in Europe and my workshop was full of squealing sorority girls taking selfies. The guide handled to balance between the girls and the lone family with a young son beautifully, so kudos to her. She was very kind and patient as well.
All in all, I don't regret getting the chance to make my own chocolate bar and decorate it, but I wouldn't recommend this workshop. The only thing I got out of this was getting to decorate a chocolate bar. Otherwise, the information provided about chocolate was very basic and the whole 1.25 hour workshop was not worth the $70ish.

Thank you for your honest review of your experience. We try and cater to all clients and needs, and are sorry you did not enjoy the other group that was partaking the class. It is a great rainy day option in Interlaken, can be fun with a group and with families too. I hope you got to eat and enjoy as much chocolate as you could :-)

The workshop has a strict late policy. We had multiple train delays and unfortunately we would not make it at 6 pm. I messaged them and though their policy is clear what was made also apparent is they lack empathy. The person messaging on whatsapp said the other 6 people made it on time rather than understanding that travel delays are not always in our hands especially when we don't control train delays. The situation could have been handled in a more courteous manner especially since no concessions were offered or any form of refund.
Here is a tip - next time say this:
"Travel delays can be challenging. Unfortunately we might not be able to fit you in if you come after xyz time but we can offer you a visit to our shop if you want to try our chocolates and if there any other openings or cancellations we can reach out to you. Let us know what dates you are here."
The above at least sounds like your empathetic. I want to share my bad experience so other families traveling will know that if things go wrong during your travels this company will not show any kindness but blame you for your train delays.

We had so much fun. Loved snacking on all the varieties of chocolate (dark to white) while we made our own candy bars. The chef (and people in the shop) were super friendly and made a relaxed and fun environment. We ate at the cafe before and after our class. A bonus was the fun beers they also have in their cafe, so we had hot chocolate, coffee, beer, and lots of chocolate. The favorite of course was the chocolate fountain which we had on a cup of strawberries. The only thing we didn't know (which makes sense) is it takes about an hour after the class for the chocolate to harden. We were staying very close so it was not an issue for us. In fact, we stayed in the shop and ate and drank even more. We did refrigerate our chocolate in our hotel for the next couple nights as it was softening a bit. This was a highlight of our 2 weeks in Switzerland.

My two daughters and I signed up for a Friday evening class. When we showed up for our class we were told that they would not run the class for less than four people. We were told we could return the next day at noon and the manager said she would keep three spots open for us. Upon returning an hour early to confirm the class, we were told there were no longer spots for us! Beyond the disappointment of missing the experience, we wasted a good deal of time coming, and going. While the manager said she will credit my account, there was nothing additional offered to compensate us for the inconvenience. Book with caution.

This was definitely a highlight of our family's trip to Interlaken. After hiking around all day, the kids were definitely motivated to keep tagging long so they could get chocolate wasted. I have 4 children, (10,8,5, 11 months). This was a great experience for my entire family. The instructor Tatiana was very passionate about making teaching and we learned a lot about chocolate in the 75 minute class. Definitely a must do if you visit Interlaken.

Fun, educational, and unique experience for the whole family! We loved making our own personalized chocolate bars, and we left with a definite chocolate high! I think the class could have been maybe half an hour longer. There were 8 of us including 4 young children, and it felt just a little rushed considering we had to assist our children at times. Still, overall a great time!

The staff here were amazing and the output of the workshop was 3 x bars of chocolate each - which exceeded my expectations. I was confused by the description of 'all you can eat'. The chocolate on offer to eat (other than an initial guided tasting) was either 'semi' dark (50%) or milk (30%) in button form. I prefer darker chocolate personally. No white chocolate buttons on offer for those who prefer this either. Correspondingly you could only make your own chocolate bar using 50% or 30%, so I ended up with 3 bars of chocolate that I wouldn't choose to buy / eat. It would be helpful if this is was clear in the workshop description. The workshop itself was pretty basic (to be expected given the duration / age range of participants), but fun and well led.

Hello Maria.
Yes, kids love making chocolates!
Our workshops are universally popular with kids. Very young ones might need a steadying hand from a grown-up.
Even though we provide aprons and chef hats, the kids will probably be completely covered with a chocolate at the end. Do not worry, it looks great on the photos! 🙂
Every kid (3 -13 years old) need to have their own seat reserved and Kids younger than 6 must be accompanied by and work with an Adult with a ticket.
NOTE: This activity is not suitable for children younger than 3 years. Hopefully, you can come back when your treasures grow up a bit. If you insist on bringing a child under 3 years old, there is admission fee of 15CHF per child. This child must be accompanied by and work with an Adult with a ticket. Make a note during the online booking that you are bringing an infant or drop us an email. You will pay Infant on site.
Christmas is a busy time so please visit our website, read FAQ and BOOK your tickets online. The sooner you book the more options will be available.
Looking forward to meet you and your family in Interlaken.
