What a cute, charming, almost spiritual experience to walk through this valley. It was cool and misty when we were there, and had a "rain forest" almost Muir Woods-but-smaller vibe. Easy walk from the river, and an excuse to hit the sights and shops on...More

The path to the gorge and the chapels contained within in is beautiful, but also lovely and smooth, and flat enough that most people (even those with mobility issues or in wheelchairs) should be able to navigate it successfully. Once you leave the carpark, the...More

If you have the time and the weather is dry then a walk through Verena Gorge is a must thing to do. There is plenty of shade and a few places to buy drinks and icecreams so do not worry about the heat if it...More

Walking from Solothurn/Feldbrunnen towards Rüttenen, you enter into an enchanted forest. Underneath the dense forest one can escape the summer heath. And .. you can expect to see Snowwhite's dwarfs crossing the beautiful small bridges any moment. At the end you see the heremit's house...More

Growing up in the region, I have been coming here since I was little. Verena Gorge is a magical place, a lovely peaceful walk and nice shade on a warm day. Before Christmas, people bring tea candles and put them in the rocks next to...More

Do the hike! It's totally serene in a fairy tale like forest with water sound accompanying your every step. The chapel in the end is small but nice. Still, it's the journey itself that leaves the biggest impression

This walk was recommended by the staff at the Kunstmuseum in Solothurn and we weren't disappointed. The walk through the forest was lovely and there were various points you could stop and meditate or pray along the way. When you finally reach the end of...More

Hi Stefanie, There is a café where the chapel is, so you could probably use the toilets there.
