Almost any point of the northern coast is suitable for swimming during the hot summer days. Water temps range between 22 and 24°C. Clean, crystal clear waters!

The lake is very nice, in summer usually 21-23°C with very clear water. I would estimate the visibility to 3-5m. In the city of Neuchâtel, there are spots with grass everywhere to do pic-nic, bbq, trees to put a slack line and some showers (with...More

The lake is very near ce and it’s possible to walk around without any problem. You can find few tables for BBQ but it’s possible to use a one-time bbq and have some intimacy.

We rented two bikes today in Neuchâtel at the harbor. Super cheap (2chf for 4h, 6chf for 24h), with children seats in the back and children’s helmets for free. The bikes were in good condition and a deposit of 40chf has to be paid in...More

We’re always looking for somewhat adventurous things to do while traveling with our 14 year old. Biking Lake Neuchatal was just the thing. Bike rentals are on 2 F for 4 hours. Nice views and stops along the way. Came across a swan and its...More

Lac de Neuchatel is the largest lake located entirely in Switzerland. All around the lake are stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. You can enjoy a boat tour or ride a bicycle around the lake to enjoy the stunning views.

I have visited Neuchatel many times at different times of the year. My last visit was in March 2018 but I have experienced the Lakeside in all the different seasons. What can I tell you about Lake Neuchatel? The view from the Lake side is...More

Very relaxing and breathtaking view. Can be very crowded if the weather is nice. Great for going jogging. Nice places to have coffee and breaks along the walking area.

The Lac provides the perfect backdrop for long walks along its shore. There is always something new to check and plenty of scenic spots. Also plenty of resting spots.

Will be driving or training from Geneva next Wednesday afternoon to arrive in Chur/Arosa by Thursday evening (for business) with my 13 year old daughter. We have one full day and overnight and want to spend it in a French speaking canton doing something unique. Neuchatel sounds perfect. Creux-du-Van looks amazing. But since we will have several days of enjoying the mountains when we get to Arosa, we wanted to instead use the 24 hours to do a lakeside experience where we can speak French with the locals, enjoy shops and outdoor cafes, and maybe visit a castle. If the weather is nice, would love to take a bike ride for a couple of hours and explore paths along the lake to take in the views. Question: To find a hotel in a setting that offers these opportunities, and which loans/rents bikes, should we plan to stay in the city of Neuchatel itself, or should we look at some of other villages along the lake or Murtensee lake? All of the TA reviews I find here in this section are for the "Lac de Neuchatel", but I don't see which town/city. Thanks for suggestions! Jamie

I'm a tourist in my own country and so I can't be of much help. However, Neuchâtel is a lovely city with much to see and I like to think that it is best to stay there instead of a small village in the area removed from... More
