We were on a tour in Geneva and walked down from the Banc de Trailles towards the Reformation Wall, where we passed by the Statue of Frankenstein, located in the park.

I set out to find the statue of Frankenstein’s Monster on a short run yesterday, as a great admirer of Mary Shelley and science fiction in general. He was a little difficult to find as the maps don’t quite show his location accurately; he’s actually at the northern point of the park, and from a distance appears to be just a tall figure lurching along beside the path, as there is no pedestal beneath him. But he is therefore perfectly positioned to pose with for selfies and other interactive photos, and the sculpt is so detailed, too!

Its ALIVE!!!!!

The story of Frankenstein was written close by Geneva, hence, the statue of Frankenstein. Nice work on the statue. You won't find any one around so it was good for us to take pictures, as many as we wanted!!!!

Gorgeous and sorrowful

An incredible statue with a sorrowful face and a mix-matched body. The detail on his denim jeans is amazing, as is the depictions of stitching and stapling all along his skin. Truly beautiful and definitely not something to miss.

Great statue though odd location

Mary Shelley actually conceived her novel 'Frankenstein' while staying at Lord Byron's villa during the cold, wet summer of 1816. The bad weather kept her indoors and Byron suggested they try their hand at writing a gothic novel each to pass the time. This was at Villa Diodati in the Geneva lakeside suburb of Cologny - it's some distance away (and is a private home, though apparently it looks much as it did back then. You can see it from the Croisiere de Sirene if you take that boat tour on the lake) so I'm not really sure what the statue of Frankenstein's monster is doing in the Parc Pleinpalais! You can find him on the west side (towards the city centre). It's a great statue though - it looks like a reanimated corpse, made up of different body parts stitched together! 'It's alive, I tell you! Alive!'

Statue of Dr. Frankenstein’s’ monster
Nov 2018 • Solo
I made it a point to read (audiobook) and finish Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein book before and during my visit to Geneva, as this is where she had her inspiration to write the book.

Regardless of any pictures you may have seen on TV or at the movies, this statue of the monster of Dr. Frankenstein’s’ creation more so shows the gruesomeness created in the actual story and book.

The statue kind of sits in a bizarre place and on the edge of the park, but I would certainly and highly recommend checking it out if you have any knowledge of the book and creature, since its history and story line lies much with the city of Geneva. I’ll leave it to parental discretion if you want to expose this creature to young kids.

When I asked the receptionist at my hotel where I could find the statue, he had no idea what I was talking about. Undeterred I set off to find it...it’s an easy find on a tram route and marks the scene of where Frankenstein’s creation commits the first murder.
A striking figure and after posing for photos it is well worth visiting the Cologny area of Geneva to view the villa and meadow where Shelley created the masterpiece.
