This sounds like a super lame museum but my sister-in-law and I ended up loving it. It’s informative, interesting and very hands-on. All the exhibits are in German, French and English. If you’re on the fence about this one, just go! I promise you’ll like...More
School parties are visiting here so be patient. It was fun. Hands on experiences as well as plenty of reading. If your on a budget around and about out side the museum are plenty of benches to use for eating your pack up.
Paper may well not be high on one's list of interesting museums, but the Basel Paper Mill Museum will capture your attention (and educate in the process) about an underappreciated aspect of our daily lives. The museum is privately run, the staff is friendly and...More

Impressive working paper mill that gives hands on experience, too. Very good signage to explain processes. Charming staff throughout. Very nice shop. In lovely neighborhood with one of the nice little ferries crossing the Rhine close by.
Visited by the way but was pleasantly surprised.
Lovely place for kids and adults.
Very interactive and ended up making my own paper, printing and painting.
Received rich history nuggets on the impotence of Basel as a publishing and printing capital of medieval Europe.

As I said in my review, (May 29th) my daughter (21) and I were the first in at 11am and enjoyed the museum, most of the exhibits and a walk round the shop in an hour. Unfortunately not everything is written in English so we passed those bits by. But it is located in a picturesque area.
