Had 2hrs to spare while in Basel & decided to visit the zoo which is quite close to the train station. The €20 was not worth it. Its a small zoo with hardly any animals. Well maintained.

We visited the Zoo in Basel, on a Sunday, very easy to find, as the tram stops right outside, the Zoo is placed right within the city. Considering how expensive Basel is, we were pleasantly surprised to find it was a very reasonable 20 Swiss...More

Great zoo, but showing signs of lack of capital investment. Wonderful collection of animals, but habitat needs improvement. No standouts worth mentioning.

What I love most of this place is the respect and the attention they have in regards to animals. There are each year a lot of newborns, a clear sign of well being for the animals, and there are a lot of descriptions and small...More

Good zoo with a wide range of exhibits. Good sized aquarium. Some cages and areas looked a bit restrictive for the animals but some others were a decent size. Restaurant on site served decent food. Good value for money with the basel card.

Part of the zoo was beneath the railroad tracks and the squeaking brakes of passing trains is unhealthy for large, confined animals. Only saw one lonely, male rhino in an area much too small for his grazing needs. Three lionesses and one male in a...More

Recently I was in Basel Zoo with my wife and young children and we enjoyed well especially the Kids. There are many varieties of animals and birds which are very much attractive for the children as well as the old. But there is always insufficient...More

So many different animals. So exotic and nice. Easy to walk trough the whole zoo and see all animals. Shop of souvenirs. Coffees and even restaurant. Love the zoo of Basel

The surprising thing about this zoo is that it seems small in that you move between enclosures quickly, but the depth of the enclosures allow the animals to have good space to move in, and to seek privacy away from people if they choose to....More

They normally do walk the penguins on a daily basis, in the morning, but this depends on the weather. Please do check the website for the exact times - or give them a call in advance, just to be sure that you don't create... More
