Siena is a beautiful town. Our mistake again was to take a bus tour instead a private tour or even go to Siena on your own. Steep hilly town, so if you have problems with steep walks, not the place for you.

The crypt, underneath the Cathedral, holds an impressive collection of archeological findings, fine art and interesting artefacts. The frescoes and stained glass are really impressive. This is not an actual crypt, but it is very interesting and worth visiting.

Visited as part of the basic 15 euro ticket. The stained glass window is amazing and well worth seeing.

The crypt has a separate entrance unlike in Florence so its a quick easy visit - its all so beautiful - just go and enjoy

Totally worth taking the time to while exploring Siena to stop here for a visit. Very special, in that, as far as "crypts go," this was light and airy

Not really a true crypt, this tour leads beneath the Duomo and shows some ancient (medieval) frescoes and a glimpse at the ongoing restoration of the Duomo structure.

External architecture of the cathedral is more striking than the interior, although the artworks within are very impressive. Photo identification required for each audio guide, although their use is included in the ticket. Member of staff at ticket desk was very curt.

I am not a great fan of religious sites however this is amazing. We entered the Duomo at the side and went into the crypt. It was built in about 900 and rediscovered in 1990s. The crypt is covered in painted scenes of the bible...More

The wait can be very long as they only let 30 people in at a time and they are there for 30 minutes. Unfortunately the staff don't tell you that and will not allow you to come back in if you decide the wait is...More

This was originally a hospital that served orphans and poor people. The history of the conflict between the church and the city as to whom would be responsible was a view of the city at the time. As you go down the 5 levels, the...More
