Lovely cathedral with incredible sculptures and tiles. Was like the duomo in Florence, but on a smaller scale. The stained glass windows were stunning.

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of Siena, the Cathedral is constructed of wonderful marble, mainly white but also deep green and a pinkish colour. The interior is as decorative as mone would expect.

Outside you can wonder the wonderful carvings, the white marble. Inside it is breathtaking. The different color of marble, the magnificent decorations makes this cathedral to one of the best in whole Italy.

Our guide made the tour a lot more interesting explaining to us the important and special art of its time that went into this church. Made for an interesting and visual pleasure to go through and not just another church.

Sorry for the late reply. 3 hours would be more appropriate. The Gate to Heaven portion takes one hour, so if you’d really like to explore the inside of the cathedral, you’ll need more time.
