We were tight for time so didn't go inside, but on lovely sunny day the architecture of the outside was marvellous, well worth passing by.

At first when you arrive you (my) reaction is to start taking pictures. But as you really look, you see the photos cannot do justice to the overwhelming sense of history in this cathedral. Every you look there are masterpieces that took years of artists...More

Our group stopped in Siena for a day of touring on our way to a villa in the countryside. We tried to see as much as we could in a short time and the Cathedral was one of our choices. The plaza outside the cathedral...More

This is the second time I have visited the cathedral and the first time I have climbed to the Porta del Cielo. There is so much to see and it is so beautiful....art, sculpture, marble galore.

This cathedral had the most amazing floor, so different that most of the cathedrals we saw that the art was in the paintings and sculptures . Here the floors, alters and columns were spectacular. Don't miss the chapels and the crosses were amazing .

I'm a bit of a rubbish tourist, I tend to see a queue and walk on happy to see something from the outside and keep going. Despite of that we did go into the Cathedral and i'm glad that we did, it was very impressive.

We visited this cathedral on a walking tour and were lucky enough to visit during the 10 weeks of the year when all of the floors are uncovered as they are absolutely beautiful. The cathedral is spectacular both from the inside and out.

The floors were completely open to view (although not walk on) when we were there last week (4-10 Sep)... even if the floors can’t be seen, which would be a shame, it’s worth going for the beautiful al fresco and paintings... More

Sorry for the late reply. 3 hours would be more appropriate. The Gate to Heaven portion takes one hour, so if you’d really like to explore the inside of the cathedral, you’ll need more time.
