I've seen photos of the Piazzas Napoleone and was looking forward to seeing it but there was too much covered up with scaffolding. I'll come back on the next trip.

A lot of time and money is being spent to restore this Piazza . Unfortunately this meant it was still like a building site on our visit

The edge was taken off the view with the scaffolding and plastic sheeting. I just hope they get it fixed soon

We strolled the day way in the walled city of Lucca and came upon Piazza Napoleone. It was baracaded and dirty! I would not waste my time in this area!

I was disappointed, as I hoped to see some vestiges of Napoleon's rule (his Sister was actually there more so), but most of the square was covered by scaffolding. Otherwise, there were many restaurants there, but not much else.

Nice Piazza with lots of shops around. However, it is also the site of the Lucca Summer Festival featuring lots of well-known bands, including the Rolling Stones in September. There appear to be a variety of musicians to please every taste. If only we had...More

This looks to be the venue for the Lucca Festival so lots of good things throughout the summer with plenty of restaurants nearby.

It's a large square, with trees all around and plenty of space in the middle for activities (when we got there, there was a spinning class kids basketball). On one side there's the Palazzo Ducale, on the other there are a few restaurants.

This large square dates back to when Lucca was ruled by the sister of Napoleon in the early 1800's and she organized and named this square after her brother. It is a large public square, and in addition to the Ducal Palace, which now houses...More

I always stayed in the middle of the town. Think to have seen taxi's around so I guess it won't be a problem. Enjoy your stay! Leave the piazza Napoleone in the south side (where traffic is allowed) and you will find a taxi.
