See my photo - this “square” is round. In the summer, I have no doubt it would be packed. In November 2018, it was quiet but very pleasant. Definitely worth your visit when in Lucca.

Wanted to go here and see where the colosseum was and appreciate the history of this spot. Great people watching and place to sit and relax and have a great lunch.

I was expecting more of this than it is in reality - a bit tacky with very touristy restaurants, which block the views. Not nearly as interesting as the rest of Lucca and not a patch on the Piazza del Campo in Siena.

A must to visit whilst in Lucca. A ring shaped enclosed Piazza to sit and have a coffee or a glass of wine...it has lots of ambience and a memorable experience but it’s definitely not a venue for eating in any of the the cafes...More

This Piazza Anfiteatro is a unique oval built over a Roman amphitheater. One can spot some of the Roman marbles. The area now houses daily restaurants and bars but is mainly off archeological interest.

Certainly not the whole 'amphitheatre' experience one was possibly expecting... some great shops (e.g. Uashmama!) and lots of touristy restaurants in a circular plaza (for anyone from Sydney, Australia it's very similar to the one at Leichhardt!)

Not far from our hotel and just off the main drag of Fillungo, you can find one of the coolest of Lucca's unique spots - Piazza dell’Anfiteatro or the Amphitheatre Square. First started during Roman times, you can see the buildings were built in a...More

This is a must since it was built like a Roman Amphitheater. Great spot to have a cup of coffee and and a pastry.

I loved visiting Piazza Anfiteatro. It’s a great place to have a drink before dinner. The round piazza has many cafes around to chose from and it represent the low key vibe of this town.
