Our apartment was next door to this market and it is absolutely wonderful. I so wish it was a two minute walk everyday of my life. You can buy virtually anything and it goes without saying, the choice of fresh bread, pasta, fruit, vegetables, meat...More

I found the Mercato Centrale a wonderful place. Fruits and vegetables, Fresh meats, chicken and fish all on display. Breads, cheese, sausages are ready for slicing and eating. The market is dotted with coffee stands so you can get a real Italian breakfast. You can...More

Visited here as part of cruise stop over. Nice big building with interesting architecture. Walked around to absorb the atmosphere and looked around at local produce. Interesting.....

Open only in the mornings (on Fridays some vendors open on the afyetnoon) the central market was rennovated some years ago, unfortunately by an architect/firm from Pisa -I say unfortunately because of the centuries-long rivalry between Livorno and Pisa. The building is (or was) one...More

I love markets! The market in Livorno is filled with smells and colours. Tasty cheeses, fabulous pastas, fresh pasta, wonderful fresh fish, cured hams, olives ....... and so much more.

Not much to do here, mostly just a way station for other locations. Typical city without much to set it apart.

We went to visit and expected a interesting and Beautiful City, but it is the exact opposite. Very noisy, dirty and not charming at all. Shopping is primary Via Grande street and no interesting brands. We left after 2-3 hours. We suggest to go to...More

On a Monday around Noon, the Mercato Centrale is a rather disgusting place to be. About half of the stores inside were open, while the rest were shuttered. The ones that were open seemed to be mostly butchers, and many specialized in some kind of...More

Hi, there are not much hotels near the market because in the center of the city. The nearest and good hotel is the Granduca in front of the "4 Mori" monument at the beginning of "Via Grande". From there in 5 minutes walk you... More
