The so called Cupola of Brunelleschi, was as the name suggests built by the architect Brunelleschi who ingeniously found a way to finally find a solution to the open space that was left over a hundred years after the construction of the church. In fact...More

If you're willing to take so many steps, I recommend climbing the dome of Duomo. The view of Florence is majestic from there. If you have watched Medici series on Netflix, you will find out how much time and effort was put into constructing this...More

as we most popular places in Florence book ahead and for the dome you reserve a time and best to do this on line. stairwells are narrow and you have a few places you can recover. Good close up views of the frescoes and a...More

I walked round in awe admiring the colours and the shape. So famous but even more impressive in the flesh. The gallery was a long walk up but worth the view.

A friend told me not to miss this - and I am so glad I took the time to make the climb! Yes, it is claustrophobic and will get your heart beating in more ways than one. The view is spectacular and the close-up sights...More

We pre-booked timed tickets to climb the dome, which I believe is a requirement at most times of year. Our tickets were the first in the morning, which we were glad about since the crowds were a little less and it wasn't hot. One benefit...More

Despite the fact I was suffering with a bad back and hip problems there was no way I was missing out on the climb! You do have to buy a ticket and state what time you want to climb the steps. The problem is there...More

We really enjoyed the climb up the 463 steps up the top of the Cupola. The steps are not too steep and only up the very top they are narrow. We saw an old lady with a limb climbing them, if she could do it...More

Have to book a visit time In advance. Still had to queue even though low season. Quite a climb up more than 400 steps but really worth it to be amongst the frescoes in the dome.

I thought it was beautiful to see. The inside was gorgeous but we just did the main tour and not the basement area.

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

Sadly, this is the official website info: The only way to see the inside of the dome up close and enjoy the extraordinary view of Florence it offers is to climb its 463 steps (there is no elevator) But why bother going... More

Yes people will be able to pass you, and there are wider spaces to allow people through. The problem I saw was that if you are on a guided group tour, and go too slowly, they will leave you behind. His happened to some... More
