Several years we had stayed in the Santa Croce area and it was an excellent choice: not noisy at night and the Piazza was so gorgeous in the morning before the tourist crowds’ invasion. This time, in May, we revisited one of our favorite piazzas...More

I have lived in Florence for 4 months and this is my absolute favorite spot. The sunset can't be beat and it isn't crowded in the night.

A quieter Piazza in Florence, and it sounds as if the Basilica di Santa Croce would be well worth a visit as it houses the tombs of several famous Florentines. However, as I was on a whistle-stop tour I did not get the chance to...More

Wanted to get the best approach to the Santa Croce church but on reaching the square found it covered in sand and grandstands due to the imminent or recent playing of the ancient form of Florentine football. Such is life. No doubt a beautiful open...More

It's another piazza with a pretty basilica, and it is big and open. But there are prettier piazzas in Florence. This is just conveniently located on the way to the river. There are restaurants and shops here, too.

Stop and stare at the beauty and symmetry of the
Basilica of Santa Croce any time day or night.
Unraveling around it are a number of architectural and
artistic masterpieces, from the Synagogue to the
Central National Library. As a hub for young people,
the area gets busy with people who want to have fun: a
continuous flow of tourists and locals become animated
by songs and dances.

Yes. There's a Taxi stand just in front of the square. But it's only a five to seven minute walk.
