We love Florence and have been coming here for many years. The Duomo is one of the most recognizable symbols of Florence and Tuscany. Of course, there are many other incredible symbols of the city like the Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Palace, the Ponte Vecchio...More

With the queue stretching nearly all the way around the cathedral, which has a wonderful exterior, I was keen to sample the wonders of the inside. Having made it through the airport style security just inside the doors, I was disappointed to find a relatively...More

I think you have to go inside to say you have? The most beauty (beside the dome) was a small mass going on in the side chapel done with great love. Great to see a church in use. Otherwise it wasn’t really worth the hour...More

The exterior of the building is stunning. The interior isn’t quite as beautiful, but it’s very atmospheric. Then there’s the climb to the top of the dome, 462 steps, but there are places to stop and rest and the views from the top are worth...More

We've been to the Duomo many times over four decades. We've climbed to the top of the dome twice (an exhilarating experience)--what a wonderful view of Florence! But on this recent trip we just wanted to enter the Cathedral again. We noticed that lines were...More

It isn’t worth waiting in lines to see the interior. The exterior is by far more beautiful and if you can step up to the challenge I’d recommend climytgr bell tower for a view of Florence.

I wanted to see the dome for a long time and it did not disappoint. The frescos inside are amazing and the views from the top spectacular. Make sure you book online. You select a time slot and once there you can just turn up...More

This really is the most spectacular building from the outside and there are plenty of places to sit and admire it from restaurants and coffee shops. But the queue is usually over an hour. Only the Duomo itself can issue tickets to skip the line....More

The cathedral is beautiful, massive, very impressive. We visited in June while it was not so busy. Wanted to climb the Giotto's tower, but the price was 13€ for the tower, the Duomo and the surrounding museums. If I go to Florence again it will...More

Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

Same not sure they were selling these tickets by the museum but since the Domo was free we just stood in line and walked in about 20 min wait!

The lines dwindled dramatically after noon for us to a manageable 20 minutes, barely wrapping around the front of the outer barrier. The morning lines were at least an hour. It seemed that everyone has the strategy to get... More

Try the bell tower instead, only very slightly lower than the dome but there are intermediate platforms so you can give up at the point you find the view sufficiently satisfying!
