Beautiful, beautiful church. I walked all the way up the hill from central Florence to see it and it was worth the long slog. The inside of the Duomo in Florence disappointed me--so plain compared to the outside. But not San Miniato! The inside is...More

I was expecting a challenging uphill climb. But it wasn't challenging at all. From Piazzale Roma, I walked around the restaurant, up some stairs, past a church, and then towards the top of the hill on a walkway/trail until I got to the top. To...More

A very friendly local who helped us when we got lost on the way told us that this was the most beautiful church in the world, and he might just be right. Certainly, in a city of beautiful churches this is our favourite. Not only...More

We stopped here on a Vespa tour of the Tuscany hills. It sits atop one of the highest points in Florence giving an outstanding view of the city below. It has a beautiful facade. Although beautiful inside, it is much more rustic than other churches.

This Romanesque is very beautiful inside and out. The use of marble and mosaics is fabulous as are the many painting and sculptures. A truly magnificent a Holy Place

Over looking Firenze with a spectacular view of centro Firenze. Beautiful cemetery and grounds. Take the time to walk up the steps and view the inside of the church.

It's a long climb up the hill on wide steps but worth it for the ancient church and the amazing view. Don't miss the cemetery while taking in the view!

This building is on the hill on the other side of the river from the Cathedral and Florence. The grounds are nice and the church is lovely. It is most certainly the best place to see all of Florence. Our favourite place after the Duomo

One popular guide book says there are 5:00 p.m. vespers with Gregorian chanting but call ahead to confirm. Good advise. It was mass in the crypt when we were there. Definitely worth the excursion for the view and the history. This played a strategic part...More

Well worth the climb! The ornateness of all the churches in Florence(in all of Italy for that matter) never ceases to amaze! The artistry, and the number of people involved in the construction back then is mindboggling!
