Good selection of costumes beautifully displayed. Only downside is that you cannot purchase an individual ticket for just the costume portion So it's 10 euro to go through which is pricey unless you want to see the Boboli Gardens, etc which we had visited multiple...More

Only 3 fragmented garments reclaimed from burial sites were on exhibit (Explanation of how they reclaimed them was fascinating) Even if there had been reproductions of clothing worn by the Medici Family, I would have been pleased. Seeing textures, accessories, shapes and designs would have...More

This is somewhat rare in Florence as the emphasis is on the clothes between 1960 and 1990 though there is a small part with some items of clothing from the Medici era. What is fully amazing is the backdrop in every room. Treasures of the...More

From my understanding this is a museum in which the exhibits rotate with some frequency. I was so excited to view some 17th, 18th, and 19th century clothing but was instead met with 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. You could find similar items hanging on...More

The different museums in the Palazzo Pitti are all worth a visit but the costume gallery stole our heart. Great presentation in the beautiful setting of this palace. We loved it!

I was looking forward to seeing this but it's a waste of time. A couple of dozen haute couture dresses from the latter 20th century. I was hoping for historical insights into dress in the past centuries. Couldn't be more of a let down.

We visited the Galleria del Costume for the first time this August. The collection had been laid out to explore a specific theme by room. One was a pun on the fleeting nature of fashion seen through the unstoppable decay of the fabric in the...More

This is one of the museums in the Pitti Palace and looks at costumes over time by famous Italian designers but mostly from the 20th century. Of particular interest were the remains of clothing recovered from the graves of Cosimo and his wife which have...More

I expected to see several centuries of Italian clothing, but the exhibit has almost exclusively 20th century pieces. They did have 16th century funeral clothing worn by Cosimo 1, his wife Eleanor of Toledo, and their son. It was the most interesting part of the...More

We went expecting to see a full on museum about the evolution of fashion, to find it was more of influential women in the Italian culture and their contribution to Fashion. To go and see the museum on its on i wouldn't say its worth...More

It's a nice space, but the exhibition is very modest. Several items are indeed exquisite and I am sure there's much more that may be offered here, but all in all I felt like I got the tip of the iceberg and I was not...More

I found this collection quite interesting especially the clothing that had been recovered and restored from the graves of Cosimo 1 and his wife. The collection is primarily composed of 20th century dresses designed by notable Italian designers b.ut is quite fascinating and well displayed
