We drove right up to the parking lot via a narrow busy windy road. Luckily parking was available. Lots of stair climbing is required. The scenery is beautiful and well worth the trip, located just outside the city wall of Cortona.

Le Celle is a magical monastery about a mile below the city of Cortona. It is a beautiful place, kind of set in a pocket in the hillside. It is a marvel to look at. How did they build this? How long did it take?...More

We walked - it was a very long walk but well worth the effort. The Hermitage is an incredible place to visit. It is truly a must see for your trip to Cortona.

We came here with a local fellow we met in Cortona, May not have realized it was here otherwise. Beautiful, peaceful, historical. Well worth visiting.

Cappucine monks occupy Le Celle. It is a bit out of the way in the hills above Cortona. And, there are a number of steps to climb and descend. But, the tranquility and views are well worth the visit. The monastery is a great respite...More

This place was really excellent. Great architecture, very peaceful and had a look at the alleged St Francis's cell. Loved it!
