Lovely well=displayed collection of Italian art that should be better known. Many surprises in a solid selection of 19th and early twentieth. Good lighting and curation make the experience a complete delight.

Take your time! Two hours and only because we were hurried. A permanent exhibition + an occasional exhibition, a charming combination. Split in two buildings. highly recommended

As others have say, this isn't a particularly modern museum. In fairness this museum does a nice job presenting some important and interesting Sicilian examples as the painting arts moved into the modern period. The exhibits are consistently of good quality. Yes, the lighting could...More

First things first. What I think of modern art start with Jackson Pollack. What the ART WORLD thinks of modern art starts around 1850 including the impressionists, etc. No French artists here, but very good Sicilian ones. Great sculpture as well. Again, it's in an...More

Many of our group didn't visit as they thought it was modern as in "Tate Modern". There is some contemporary art but very little in comparison to beautiful older exhibits. It was one of the highlights of our holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed all the well...More

The Gallery, for obvious reasons, specialises in Sicilian art. It's a well structured museum and although you will not see any modern or contemporary master pieces it will give you a good introduction to Sicilian art.

Entry Euro 7. Photography allowed - no flash. First up - Modern Art is roughly from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s - the beautiful Romantic Period of art - it's not Contemporary Art which is the period that followed. There is only one...More

It is not modern art, it is just a gallery with local painters that lived after 1850. The receptionist was vey kind.

The visit was disappointing as we expected modern art. Instead we got a load of 19thC art and some early 20thC art which looked outside the general thrust of radical modernist European art of that period. Also it was specifically exhibiting Sicilian art and that...More
