Whilst traveling in Italy from Australia we visited Catania for a couple of days. The history is amazing as it is in all of Italy. For an Australian Naturopath / Herbalist this tea room / museum was incredible. To see the history of herbal medicine from the local area and have a cup of prickly pear tea was outstanding. Healthy snacks were provided too -yum! Don't expect a cup of English breakfast, 2 sugars and milk. This is a special place. This morning I was reviewing travel photos,and smiled happily when I encountered the images devoted to this museum. Like the apothecaries it displays, the Herborarium is a compact delightful package containing rare treats. It is devoted to the history of our use of herbs: how we've categorized, catalogued, and compounded them. The displays are elegant and informative. and the staff are courteous (and proficient in English). I recommend it highly as a refreshing pause from the usual round of churches and cappuccinos; treat yourself to one of their splendid organic teas in a sweet and romantically-lit environment.
