Firstly, I'd like to say that the people were very nice and the tour is OK for someone who's never ridden a Segway before, but the Segways on our tour were restricted to Turtle-mode and as people who’ve ridden these fun machines many times before we were quite frustrated at the slow speed…there were pedestrians walking faster than us! The town's sites are worth seeing, but a walking tour would likely be cheaper and actually wouldn't take any longer.

Response from SegwayPT-by-CSTRents, CEO CSTRents at CSTRents - Catania Segway PT Authorized Tour

I'm glad that, in our client's vote, we went from 1/5 to 2/5. It was enough to point out to him that he was telling lies in his original review about the fact that our Segways were not original. It was the only thing that we areinterested to not seeing written: a falsehood in all respects (which, opportunely, he canceled). We did not want to oppose it, as well as on that falsehood, also on the fact that our Segways were in Turtle mode: this is because .... it's the truth! We are happy with this certification because it means that we have particular attention both towards the law (which requires the use of Segway, in pedestrian areas, with this limitation), and towards customers (and pedestrians): this is an opportune safety choice! We didn't want to upset him even when he says that a Walking Tour is just as extensive: he won't find even one, on the market, that does, in 3 hours, such a long journey as ours. At most it will be 50% of ours with a half-day duration. We thank him, however, for his kind words to us and also for having informed us, even a few hours before departure, that one of the people he had booked could not take part in the Segway Tour. If only he had communicated it with more advance we would be happy to grant you a full refund. In light of the above ..... is such a low grade really justified? :)

Marie Luise and Leo do a great job in introducing you to Catania: The city, the history and its peculiarities. Also, they are careful to ensure that everyone masters the Segway, and that the tour proceeds in a right pace for the group. Indeed, a delightful, instructive, and easy introduction to Catania! We met precisely where and when we had booked, and were very warmly greeted. Only point for suggested improvement would be improved radio communication and a little more cultural indulgence. Will definitely recommend to everyone visiting Catania for their first time! Our group comprised fathers and sons - great success for everyone!

Our family of six is experienced with Segways. There is a lot to see in Catania, especially the tremendous views of Mt Etna. The tour itself was just ok but this is still a fun way to get introduced to a place.

The company had us deposit and then came back and said that they would not honor the price due to the amount of people on the tour. The company needs to guarantee the price if they take your credit card and charge the amount. They offer a refund if you cancel 7days prior to the date of the tour. This is not what is advertised by travel advisor. I would not book this tour due to the uncertainty of their pricing structure. We have booked Segways all over the world. None have this ridiculous unknown pricing policy. Be ware seems like you will not be able to,secure pricing until you show up

We have done numerous Segway tours in different cities around the world. This is the first time that there was not an official office to visit in Catania to book and chat with the organisers. Consequently this resulted in making a booking very difficult. It made us unsure about the legitimacy of this tour. We ended up booking by telephone and meeting the owners of the Segways and the tour guide under an archway near a bus station which was filled with traffic. This again made us feel unsure about the whole situation and committing to the whole experience. Also it was a dangerous place for inexperienced tourists to learn how to use a Segway. Fortunately this was not a problem for us. There was confusion about the price. Online it mentioned from €99 per person for 3 hours tour. On the telephone we were quoted €120 per person then this changed to €130 per person. They misunderstood and thought this booking was for 3 people hence they were expecting €390 in total. The owners of the segways came from a different city. When we met them they made us feel guilty for the price confusion and they told us they were making a loss. They needed at least €390 per tour to break even. We were told we would receive a SMS text message with the information, confirmation and meeting point but they sent it on whatsapp which unfortunately we didn't receive on time hence further confusion. Once the price issue was cleared up we had a very nice tour in the sunshine. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. It was advertised as a 3 hours tour but ended half hour early and there was no audio guide as advertised however this was not needed because it was just the 2 of us. I recommend the tour however the booking process was painful and did not fill us with confidence. Once booked it was an enjoyable experience.
