Very interesting and well preserved city walls surrounding the pedestrianised historic centre. Some fine examples of the old gated towers which provided access to the town: porta mannu is particularly worth seeing.
Very nice to sit out at the numerous coffee bars or wine bars and watching the world go by but to be honest just a mess of kids riding their bicycles around it and buskers thinking that if they play their version of the Deerhunter...More
Piazza Roma surrounds this vestige of the medieval fortifications and marks the start of some very pleasant pedestrian streets. The tower itself is an impressive monument that has been well preserved and admirably showcased.
Its a beautiful small square with lots of history, but wake up Oristano not much information around over historic building, cathedrals etc,no printed information at all it seems.
To make it up though nice bars perfect for a relaxed coffee/glass of wine, and boutique shops.
Strolling through Oristano with nothing much on my mind (which is not uncommon) this clock tower came into view, causing me to grab the camera and shoot away. I still wonder whether the bell is ever made to sound anymore..
