A little bit further one finds that church also built in the XVIth century in catalan-gothic style but it was renovated after the partial collapse in 1593. It possesses an altar in polychrometic marble from XVIIIth and a pillar with a wooden emaciated Christ that...More

Like many old churches in ancient towns it is plain on the outside and inside the architecture is very striking and here there is an unusual ornate marble altar. The stone walls and archways have a lofty simplicity which creates a tranquil ambience that befits...More

Lovely church in the old town with cloisters fro the religious order who lived there, A great example of Gothic- Catalan architecture dating back to the 14th century. It is worth a visit to this historical monument.

It won't take long, it's more interesting than some of the other churches in Alghero. The statue on left of main nave of Jesus in chains is most interesting. Cloisters are always good.

The church itself is not fancy. Not surprising given who lived there and the re simple way of life. It does have a beautiful tiled roof.

As churches go, this one is pretty, but nothing extraordinary. It is a nice break, an oasis in the middle of the bustling city.

We spent quite some time in the church, sitting to take everything in and walking round to see the various chapels and statues. The best part was the cloisters where you can walk round as the monks did in the 15th century. A very peaceful...More

As you walk through old town Alghero it is worthwhile to take a break and visit the Franciscan Church. It is relatively plain as far as churches go, in accordance with the Franciscans pledge of poverty. The facility exudes a sense of Tranquility and peace.
