The church is quite interesting because used by both christians and ortodoxes. There are a lot of interesting things and when we visited there was an rtodox celebration in the lower church. The church is located in the old part of the city of Bari.

Old St Nicholas is the patron of this church. He was an early Christian Bishop in Asia Minor, now Turkey, who lived up to his legend today. Patron of single women wishing to marry. Great treat to visit.

Beautiful church, but so touristy that it gets irritating (people photographing with flash, groups talking loudly, people wearing hats and getting reprimanded). Also, consider the fact that the bones of St. Nicholas were stolen from Turkey 1,000 years ago. So much for respect.

Amazing place with beautiful architecture. The interior is spectacular and San Nicola’s tomb was breathtaking especially since there was a service in process when we visited. A must visit if you are travelling to Bari.

Square beyond San Nicola, Bari Vecchia, on a narrow peninsula by the port, dates from the medieval times, nice architecture, twisting streets, there are many restaurants, full of cafés; it's a large historic center and very visited.

Lovely to walk around in the evening. Not sure what the lights are for as they weren't on when we visited in October.

Part of the old town with its narrow streets and white walls. Easy walking and lots to see churches around every corner and all individual.
