We took the train here from Taranto. It is very easy to get to Bari via train. The Old City Centre has many places to see, from the massive old fort, to the many religious buildings. It has the old European, narrow, windy streets, with...More

Rather mixed City, fairly run down, but with some great history if you can dig it out! Amazing buildings including some of the palaces and the undercroft of the cathedral and church of St Nicola and perhaps the castle. Mixed bunch of bars and restaurants,...More

We must have walked through this charming historical centre many times over, often getting lost in the streets, but never disappointed. The homemade pasta, the local bars, the small grocers, the street musicians... all very inviting and charming. Great people watching.

Its easy to get lost the first time you wander through these streets, but once you've done it a few times its easy to get your bearings. The streets are not as narrow as in towns further south in Puglia but nonetheless interesting thoroughfares, often...More

This is really "just another Centro Storico", but it has a big city element - streets are a bit wider, buildings somewhat higher. Not all in very good shape. Very touristy. There are a few intersting places to visit. Of course, around 1 pm the...More

Bari's historical city centre is really nice. You can get lost in the little streets, find few lovely churches or sit in a cafe with a cup of good coffee. It gets really hot during summer.

The visit to the old city reminded me of Cadiz in Spain. Both places have a reputation as being a bit “rough”. Although Cadiz is much bigger both seem to be have communities where people still talk to their neighbours and are socially strong. Both...More

Always enjoy Bari centro storico. Lots to see. The Basilica, cathedral, the amazing roman and early Christian excavations under the cathedral . They can be found once inside the cathedral. Many museums and the castle. Get lost in the lanes and many good restaurants. We’ve...More

You can buy fresh, home-made pasta to take home and cook. There are lots of interesting shops - besides the tourist shops. I just loved the doors, doorways and old and rehabbed buildings.
