Thousands of graves on this beautifully kept island dating back a long time. Very peaceful to walk around. Quite way to spend an Hr. Water bus stops regularly

We did not elect to get off the boat at the Cemetery. But next time we are in Venice and venture out to the islands, we will make a point to do so - maybe even spend a few hours there if that is warranted....More

Here is another wonderful and underrated place Venice has to offer. Cimetero di San Michele. The architecture of the church and the garden is incredible. Since rare are the visitors, you might be the only one visiting, which is very relaxing after a few days...More

Most intense experience ! Peaceful atmosphere in general until I came to the Greek section. There was definitely a presence (or presences) there, made my hair stand on end. Left the section instantly but it took a while to get rid of the creepy vibes....More

Very beautiful island and cemetery. A peaceful walk away from the busyness of Venice. Wouldn't recommend for families with children, it is still a functional cemetery so must be quiet and respectful.

They say you can't take it with you but San Michele begs to differ. There are a couple of mausoleums that are like three story houses. They gone to rack and ruin but in a pinch you could hide out there. I've always liked photographing...More

It is easy to just stay on the boat. But get off and see this little cemetery island. There are mausoleums and and family plots, and graves dating back ages and ages! It is also a peaceful respite from the hordes of tourists, as well...More

A lovely place to walk around and an easy stop on your way to Murano. So peaceful and beautiful. If you are going to just see the grave of Igor Stravinsky, it is very easy to find as the signage is excellent throughout.

San Michele is still a special island for remembrance, memory, funerals and tombstones. You can find graves of important people there. It is difficult to find vaporetto to this island. Try at Fondamente nuove. Beside the graves you can find interesting church, dedicated, of course,...More
