Neighbourhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

On a trip to Venice many years ago, we were wandering past a church and heard beautiful music emanating from within. We learned that it was a concert featuring Venice's own Vivaldi. Unable to get tickets then, we made sure to reserve in advance this time around so that we could have the experience of sitting in an ancient church and enjoying beautiful music.
The concert took place at San Vidal church, which is just off a pleasant campo that offers several options for a bite to eat. It is also near the Accademia Bridge, allowing for easy Vaporetto access.
The selection of music was pleasing, the level of artistry exemplary, and the acoustics in the church, really, really wonderful. There was something really special about hearing Vivaldi's compositions as they might have been performed so long ago.
We had hoped that the evening would cool a bit as the church is not air conditioned and, after an uncomfortable beginning it did, allowing us to better enjoy the very talented musicians and the music they so clearly love.

The setting was great, the Ensemble was excellent.
There seemed to be confusion with booking through booking.com.
Loved the encore.

Went to this concert the same day we landed in Venice. Beautiful venue, high level of musicianship. The acoustics in the church were good. Great way to end a long travel day and help one stay awake long enough to fight jet lag!

We always make a reservation to visit an Interpreti Veneziani concert when are in Venice but on this visit we made reservations to go to three - once to Vivaldi and his time ending with some Paganini and twice to Vivaldi's Four Seasons. As usual the concerts were superb but the Paganini "Le Streghe" was stunningly brilliant and the whole audience were on their feet to applaud the young violinist, Davide. Every one of this wonderful ensemble deserve every accolade they receive!

What a joyous performance! I was delighted to have the opportunity to hear something besides the Four Seasons (not that there is anything wrong with that), and was super happy to have the opportunity to hear some other lovely Vivaldi pieces, along with music from some other baroque composers. The church is a lovely setting. But what made the concert so wonderful was the pure joy and energy that the performers played with. Each violin player had a chance to shine and by the end they had the audience one their feet clapping for more. The final encore was the presto from the Four Seasons summer so we got a flavor of the masterpiece as well. Highly recommended.

Is there a dress code we should be aware of?

Hi ankie8378!
At the time of our visit, everyone in the audience was wearing a casual clothing. The concert is held in the San Vidal church, so any casual clothing which is appropriate for a church will do.
There are some videos on YouTube were one can see not only the musicians but also the audience, for example this one, but it was not taken during summer

Should I wait to buy a ticket the day of, or should I buy in advance?

We usually buy our tickets in advance, especially during tourist season. But there seem to be lots of people who buy theirs the same day. If you know your schedule, go for it. The only complication is that you have to actually go to the San Vidal church to get the tickets (I think - we've never purchased them online.) Either way, you'll have a beautiful evening!

How much does the ticket cost?

I saw them when they had a concert in Austin, Texas while on tour, so I do not know what the cost is for a concert in Venice.
However it is worth every cent. They were fabulous! And I can
just imagine how memorable it would be inside the beautiful Venetian church of an evening. Absolutely recommended!

Do these concerts start at 9 o clock sharp?
EgyptophileEngland

Yes, we agree with the other Reviewers. It starts promptly at the stated time but the start time varies with the time of year so check what time your concert is due to start. Yes too - get there early if you need to be near the front and even though a queue forms, some nationalities don't follow polite rules about queuing. There is also a good reasonably priced cafe/bar /restaurante just across the campo San Stefano where we had coffee and cakes for a few euros when we arrived early for the concert. Interpreti Veneziani are worth very cent and we too are envious that you will be enjoying this wonderful ensemble shortly,

Are the Interpreti Veneziani concerts given every night, 365 days a year? Are there regular months or days of the week that they do NOT perform?
Robert L
Breda, The Netherlands773 contributions
I sincerely do not know.
when we were in Venice in September, there were multiple concerts during the week.
However this musical group gives also concerts outside Venice, so they do not perform 365 days per year.
We made a reservation, via VIATOR, for Interpreti Veneziani Concert in Venice Including Music Museum (7100MUSICA) for the date of 25th, July, 2016.
We understand that the tour includes the Music Museum and afterwards the Concert.
The Voucher mentions that San Maurizio Church ( the Music Museum ) closes at 7:00 PM. The concert starts at 9:00 PM.
It is NOT mentioned where do we meet and if the Tour includes a Guide, or we should make it by our own.
Does anybody know how this would work ?

Contact Viator for more info. We just got our tickets the day of the concert through our hotel. At the church we saw concert at it opened about 8:30 and we got there 8:10 because it is first come first serve & we wanted good close seats. It was absolutely wonderful! Our music was four seasons by Vivaldi
Does anyone know how the seating works? What time would we have to arrive to get a good seat? Our show is on a Friday night at 9pm.

No seat booking available - just arrive early (30-40 mins?) and queue up outside. When the doors open go to your preferred area. We were on the front row and though the seats weren't comfy who cares? The canvas seats are conjoined so when the overweight lady next me adjusted her blubber from time to time, I was jiggled about in my chair too. Just forget life's little irritations and imperfections as you enjoy this wonderful music. Sorry this is a late answer - you may well have been by now. If so, lucky you.

We bought tickets on line for the Interpreti Veneziani in Venice and chose to pick them up at the box office. Is the box office at the San Vidal Church, or somewhere else in Venice?
Thanks.

Dear all,
If you've recently been to an Interpreti Veneziani concert and got your tickets at the box office, would you mind sharing the price? It's €27 if you book online, and I'd like to see if we can save anything by buying right there on the day of the performance (since many of the reviewers seem to have bought their tickets that way, and the non-4-Seasons program we want to attend may have a lower sell-out risk).
Thank you for your input!

I'm not sure, but since I enjoy supporting artists a couple of Euros either way is not a concern to me. It has been my experience purchasing on line is usually less expensive if there is no transaction fee. I usually do it through my hotel because they don't usually charge a fee and sometimes can get discounts.
Enjoy Venezia, it is one of my favorite places to visit. Also check out Trip Advisor for apartments, you get a kitchen, laundry facilities and more room for less expense.
