There is separate entry to the baptistry so you do not need to go in via the cathedral. It is 3 euros. It is amazing - totally pained - every little area. Do buy a book which explains what the paintings mean - mostly stories...More

We entered the baptistery completely unaware of the artistic and cultural value of all the frescoes! In fact we had to back two days later after having read about this masterpiece. We recommend you to prepare a visit to understand and appreciate this jewel!

Approaching this church from the Piazza del Duomo, I was impressed by the severe brick facade of the building. Inside I was surprised by the light, spacious, almost non-Catholic simplicity of the church. It is a pleasure to sit down here and look around and...More

But I hurry to share the thing that surprised me the most - the coffin over an entrance to a building on the left of the main entrance of the cathedral - share your thoughts here after you also see it!

The cathedral has been baroqued and largely painted white. The facade is the oldest part. It's well done baroque but somewhat austere. A lovely Blessed sacrament Chapel Various attempts at liturgical re-ordering have been more or less well done. The recent altar rail wall is...More

It doesn't look spectacular on the outside, and on the inside it's unusually plain for an Italian cathedral. However, the real attraction is the Baptistry (Battistero del Duomo) next door.

Don´t be fooled by its austere façade, this interesting temple deserves a visit. It´s not the church I liked most in my trip to Italy, but it´s outstanding anyway. I would point out that it´s quite original as there are some contemporary sculptures in the...More
