Impressive testimony of the ancient Roman city, this extremely well preserved site is a real must-see and it is a real surprise in the middle of the old city.

Beware parking in Aosta is impossible so do not think of breaking your trip there. If you are not staying then pass on by.

No words can describe the feeling of being in front of these well-preserved ruins and telling the stories of their time. Speechless.

Well presented gate as the entrance to the older part of the town. Some nice small shops and cafes. It is is on the junction to the Roman theatre and further down the street to the church ruins.

Nice entrance for the city, on your way in the city, you'll go through it. You can find some information on the history behind it there or online !

A well laid out and presented, small, part of the roman remains. There were some English translations. The footbridge over the display gave it presence, and as I was not expecting it amongst all the shops, it was a pleasant interlude.

This place screams history. Take your time reading all the different plaques and information boards to really get an understanding of how old and important these doors were.. you can see the walls still standing across the town

This is not just a wall but the intact buildings around it as well! They use at least part of one for regular use, if it were the us it would be a national landmark or something. Doesn't feel there is respect for the heritage,...More
