Given its place in church history as a venue for at least one of the several Councils of Trent, I anticipated that this cathedral might be very ornate indeed, with lots of religious statues (perhaps I was unduly influenced by recent visits to churches in...More

I have been there some times. Every time it surprises me because it's so huge (for a small town, I mean) and so dark. It is quite different from most Italian churches. It is romanesque style, and you can see it in every corner. Inside,...More

The Duomo is interesting but, as of writing, in the process of being renovated inside. Definitely worth a visit.

The unusually shaped tower top and stonework grab your attention before you even set foot inside. The frescoes and high altar really make it a special place. Despite the ongoing construction work, this is a really beautiful cathedral. Try one of the 2 euro machines...More

Interior of cathedral is very nice. But Not so terribly ornate as some larger ones in Italy, but very old and well maintained. We really enjoyed the foundation of the cathedral where the original church was built and where a crypt for church leaders is...More

This is in the central square. I just happened to be in Trento on a Sunday. So I stopped by for a little Sunday service and was amazed by the rich history it holds.

It's an impressive Pisan Romanesque building and the information outside made it sound really interesting. Unfortunately, what the notices did not say is that closed for lunch at 12, and by asking around we found it would not open till 2 p.m. I know this...More

This is romanesque-baroque church, interesting (if spartan) both inside and outside. Part of the gorgeous Piazza Duomo.

As of April 2017, half of the interior was under scaffolding. Note this does not include the centerpiece at the front which is a replica of the same at the Vatican.

It's a beautiful romanesque-baroque cathedral, full of history, precious frescos, a monumental altar. Free guided-tours are available and very interesting. I loved it very much.
