Beautiful and tranquil place with a peaceful atomsphere. Orta San Giulio is a small and cozy litte town with some nice restaurants, but otherwise very low key. Nice views over the lake and the island. Omegna is a little bigger town, but still quiet. There...More

A very pleasant car free destination for a couple of days, with plenty of walking and photography possibilities, or just watching the ferry come and go from the cafes on the Piazza. From Milan Malpensa Airport, our group of 4 chose a taxi to Orta...More

This is the little brother compared to the biggies like maggiore and Como and Garda. It is still big, just not huge. Beautiful landscape with villages and homes dotting the scenic landscape. What is best is the snow capped mountains that can be seen.

Lake Orta is truly beautiful & on arrival we took a boat trip out to see the medieval island. It was a fabulous calm day & the light was pristine, so we were very lucky. The old town of Orta San Guilio itself on the...More

We came to spend the day at Lake Orta. It was a beautiful sunny day. You have to park the car in the outside parking lot and walk the rest of the way through beautiful small streets with lovely stores, cafes and Restaurant’s.

Visited for the day from our holiday in Stresa and found this beautiful picturesque lake so quiet in comparison to Lake Maggiore. Parked on a grass parking lot just before we reached Orta San Giulio and then walked down to the town. It was quite...More

The town of Orta San Guilio is picture perfect, but is busy and parking is a bit of a hassle. I think it would be difficult if you needed a wheelchair. Worth the effort to visit if you like old architecture.

There is a beach on the way towards Garda. I just passed by so I know not how it is. Probably there are more small beaches. The lake is quite long.
