I've been to Italy many times and have yet to find a region I don't like. Lake Orta is special. There isn't a great deal to do so 4 days is enough, but you'll have a fantastic 4 days. Peaceful, wonderful scenery as you catch...More
This is a scenic nature lake. There are pathways along the road and lake where you can stroll into the town. Numerous restaurants and shops to amble through. So picturesque and the locals are very welcoming. Wonderful area. Numerous churches with lovely frescoes.
My boyfriend and I spent two days at Lake Orta at the end of September. Needless to say we fell in love with it! It's an absolutely beautiful very little town right on the lake, extremely peaceful and ideal to relax. Cars are only allowed...More
We've previously visited Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, Lago di Garda and a bunch of little lakes in the Dolomites, so we thought we'd try Lago d'Orta. It's very pretty, a nice relaxed pace, little boats to the island and towns. We stayed in Orta...More

Hi, thank you for your question. I presume you are considering to take this trip from Stresa which is closest. A Taxi usually is very expensive compared to a rental car. What is more, a rental you take and can use for the entire day. The taxi will bring you there, pick you up upon your specific request and wil cost you a lot of money. Enquire into car rental fares (Maggiore is an Italian company with reasonable fares) before you hire a taxi. Cheers, Duschan
