Steep climb up the hill but a change from the usual ancient churches. 21 small chapels built in parkland between the 15th and 18th centuries with 900 frescoes and 360 statues. A UNESCO site. Free entry

Very unique. Seems to be a main chapel surrounded by a dozen little individual chapels and each has murals and sculpture. Breathtaking view across the lake is the bonus.

Up the hill you will find a wonderful site seeing and relaxing spiritual garden. Has a picnic area above although some of the buildings are under construction.

Murals and 'models' depict the story of St Francis of Assisi - very well done. Make sure you start at the right place; we didn't realise the buildings were numbered so that you see the story in its correct order!
