If you visit Lecco, you mustn’t miss this cathedral! When you enter, you might have difficulties to look around, but after a little bit your eyes will get used to the darkness. Don’t miss the paintings and, when it’s Christmas time, the crib.

The Basilica of San Nicolo is located in the heart of Lecco, in an elevated position near Lake Como. The Church of San Nicolo is the most important place of worship in the city. Built in the neoclassical style, it has very ancient roots. The front door dates from 1975 . The interior has three naves, one central and two on the sides with perimeter chapels. I recommend visiting this beautiful church.

San Nicolò Minor Basilica is in the city center of Lecco, and it's well worth a visit.
It was originally built in the 12th century, and modernized several times. The current style is neo-classical, whereas the bell tower is in neo-gothic style.
The interior is very good, with several frescoes and a barrel vault ceiling. The bell tower is 96 meters tall (slightly less than 315 feet), and it's the tallest bell tower in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milan.

The Basilica dedicated to San Nicolò is located just north of the historical center of Lecco and includes the adjacent 96 meter-high bell tower.
The Cathedral dates back to the 7th century, when a previous version of the current building was constructed on top of the remains of an ancient Roman fortification.
In the 12th century the building was completely rebuilt in Romanesque style, on a three-nave plan, at the end of the 16th century under some restoration work involving the façade, the stairs and the bell tower.
The neoclassical façade was made in the 18th cenuty, while various restorationa and renovations gave the cathedral its current appearance.
The interior is well worth a visit and worth climbing every single step.
The curved stucco ceiling with frescoes is awesome, so is the dome.
Admission is free, although a (small) donation will always be appreciated.

A grand and beautiful basilica that can be easily reached and is close to the lake and to the city centre. It is worth visiting.

Noto has many cathedrals and baroque style buildings. The town is worth a visit but definitely not as impressive as Modica which is 40 odd kilometres away

Popped in while exploring the town in the afternoon. Very peaceful, not many worshipers in while we were there. There was a slightly creepy skeleton in a casket on display, and the architecture was wonderful.

We visited the Basilica on Easter Sunday, what a beautiful mass! We went back two days later for my daughter's wedding. It was spectacular! Beautiful wedding in an incredible location.

The guide gave an absolutely amazing in depth history of the tower from the ground to the top including all the history and trials and tribulations of the building project itself.

Really first class and loads of history of the whole area of Lecco included.

Brilliant

This church is recognized by Rome as a minor Basilica. It has several very interesting features that are of note. There are murals of important stories from the bible. These are very nicely done. There are many small chapels off the side with various themes and dedications. The Christ sculpture is somewhat graphic by North American standards. It is quite poignant. Look for the tiny angels capturing his blood in chalices. The heads of many saints circling the church. There is a helpful brochure to guide you. Each chapel has a small description beside it.
