The basilica is a little bit outiside the city centre but easy to reach anyway. The plainness is impressive and captivating. the church building has a powerfull size. The remaining wallpaintings are well preserved. When you are in Como I recommend to go there and...More

Superb example of Romanesque style architecture, one of the most ancient basilicas in Lombardy! Not to be missed

This is the oldest church in Como and the condition of its fabric is very impressive. Much of the external decoratuive carving is 11th C and looks now as if it was done last year. The church is very peaceful and welcoming.

We arrived on the celebration day of Saint Abbondio which was a surprise. It may not be the most extravagant church but it was peaceful and a quiet place for contemplation. Take time out to reflect on your journey away from all the tourists.

Church on the outside is rather plain but inside has a very ornate altar and a number of frescoes in the main section of the church.

I had a devil of a time finding this place. GPS wasn't very helpful. But, once there, there's the convenience of a confessional where you can get absolution for all the "bad words" you said trying to find it! It's a very old church of...More
