I enjoyed the trip up in the cable car to visit the Santuario do Montallegro. At the top the view was fantastic and the setting so serene and peaceful. A visit to the cafe before the trip down wrapped up the experience nicely.

This church was built because of a vision by Giovanni Chichizzola in 1557 of the Virgin Mary. To reach the church you can travel on the cable car (Folgaria) from Rapallo; a journey of around 8 minutes up the mountain of 600 Metres. The views...More

Tip: Church closes at 12 noon sharp for lunch break. Plan to visit on a clear day to take advantage of the view from the tram.

We took the funicular up to the church rather than tackle the steep climb, cost 8 euros per adult and enjoyed good views. The church is lovely and there was a mass attended by a group of children while we were there which was good...More

Get there by funicular straight up the side of a mountain. Breathtaking view when you arrive. Down the coast to Santa Margherita and Portofino. There are at least two restaurants nearby. Definitely worth the trip!
