When entering Il Gesu through the plain Classical exterior i was staggered at the Baroque extravaganza inside. Gold, corinthian columns, arches, domes and paintings everywhere. A truly wonderful sight.

Another church, of course beautiful inside, with frescos, gold decorations and more. And then two Rubens paintings and a few more famous ones. Wow.

This church is very near to the Palazzo Ducale. It was built in the 16th century and is still run by the Jesuits. You will be amazed bythe rich interior. There are 3 masterpieces here: two works by Peter Paul Rubens, the Circumcision (1608, on...More

No different to the many we have seen. It just seems everything is gold plated inside, well it's at least gold leaf. Absolutely amazing and beautiful. I know that the house of the lord can be just a tiny shack on the outskirts of town,...More

The outside is a little underwhelming but my mind was blown away inside. The craftsmanship of the work is something else and significantly impressive. We arrived during a mass and out of respect remained at the back but there was a sign stating tours in...More

One of the most impressive churches in the region and the most impressive in Genova, this church has every wow factor you can imagine and is completely free to visit. It is closed from noon - 3:30 on weekdays. Photography is freely allowed.

I enjoyed our visit to this extremely ornate church but my wife does not like interiors such as this, where you can feel the patrons/designers were showing off their wealth.

This Church looks plain from the outside then once you are inside it is anything but plain! Beautiful paintings on the ceiling and lovely altars. Peaceful and quiet inside so ideal for prayer. It is in the city centre and not far from Piazza de...More

Perhaps the most beautiful church in Genoa. Richly decorated with original paintings by PP Rubens almost too good to be true.

This is one of the best church interiors in Genoa, far more impressive than the nearby cathedral. Brilliant colours and good lighting add to the splendour.
